Graves-Graves Supérieures
by
Louis Larmat, Paris, 1949
The area of Graves gets its name from the soil. Graves are a mix of gravels,
clay and sand carried out by the river. Recognizable by their garnet-red color,
the red wines of Graves are rich, attractive and more robust than the other Médoc wines.
Two-thirds of Graves wines are white. Among the best white wines in Bordeaux, they are
generally fresh, fruity and dry (sometimes half-dry). The appellation of "Graves supérieurs"
is strictly reserved for sweet, white wines.
Matted and gallery-wrapped in archival materials. (Partial mat shown for easier viewing.)
