Sedgwick County
Jesse Chisholm, a half-breed Cherokee, built his house just east
of Wichita in 1864. He developed a trail to Fort Sill, through Indian territory,
which later became a famous Texas cattle trail.

Sedgwick County was established by the State Legislature February, 1867.
It's named after Major-General John Sedgwick, who was killed May 9th, 1864
at the battle of Spottsylvania, Virginia.

Mounted and gallery-wrapped in archival materials.
