Born July 7 in Lausanne, Switzerland, Nitsche moved to New York City in 1934 where he created illustrations for many magazines, including Harper's Bazaar, Vogue, Vanity Fair,Life, and Fortune. He was art d irector for Air News (1943 to 44) and Mademoiselle (1945). His works have been exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the world, including New York, Munich, Paris, London, Tokyo and Stockholm.
