Berenice Abbott (1898 to 1991)
Photographer Berenice Abbott produced a body of work that includes portraiture, modernism and science. As one of the American expatriates living in Paris during the 1920s, Abbott photographed such noted artists as Djuna Barnes and James Joyce. She returned to the United States and worked mainly in New York City where she Abbott retired to Monson, Maine and died in 1991.
