Born February 22, 1912 in Berlin, Germany, Barschel studied at the Academy of Free and Applied Arts in Berlin. His works are in the permanent collections of the Library of Congress and The New York Public Library. In addition to many Fortune magazine covers, Barschel's works can be found in issues of Town and Country magazine and numerous book jackets.
